Random Thought #492
If Osama Bin Laden agreed to come out of hiding and be captured in exchange for Paris Hilton, would we do it?

Oh yeah – I did it. I finally got myself a nifty iPod. It’s the next generation nano, meaning…COLOURS! And with colours comes PINK! So I gots the pink, 4gb ipod nano. I love it! All I need now is my pink Motorola Razr and I’ll be all good – matching accessories hehe.
Thursday night, we went to see Talladega Nights – it was great, really funny shit. I think we’re going to the flicks again tonight, don’t know what we’re going to see though.
So this is ultra short – I just want to ask what are your favourite songs because I need some ideas for my IPOD!!!
Yup. I’m crazy.
Well, this is my final night in Tassie. And I really am going to miss it. I cry every time I have to leave this place – as much as it’s boring and people who live here complain about living here, you really appreciate the sense of community and the ‘cosyness’ of the place when you’ve lived away from it. Tasmania is like no other place in the world – it’s absolutely incredible. Hopefully I can move back here at some point – I’d love this to be the place where we raise our children and grow old, because there’s absolutely nowhere else like it. If you ever get the chance to visit – do it!
So what’s been going on down here in Tassieland? We arrived on Thursday night, with a reasonably long trip home to my parents’ place. Had a drink or two when we arrived then headed off to bed for some much needed sleep. Friday morning, we headed out into town – I had to get a toothbrush because I forgot mine – and a couple of other things to do. The RSL was the next scheduled thing but because I (stupidly) put all my trousers except for my trackpants in the wash, we had to head into town a little earlier to grab some new pants! There was no way I was wearing trackies into the RSL!
Saturday morning was pretty busy, because it was the day of my cousin’s 21st birthday party. I dyed my hair (a red/brown rather than the black I wanted, but mum bought it earlier so I can’t complain) and we all got into our clothes ready for the party. We had a couple of things to do in town – Dad had to pick up the limousine for Alex (my cousin) and of course Mum had to drive him there. We headed up to Wynyard to pick up Alisha (my sister) from the airport after running into Alex at the bottleshop (and she had no idea that Michael and I were even in Tassie – so we ducked down in the back of the limo! We dropped into the hotel/motel that Mum and Dad were staying at to check-in and use the toilet, etc. then headed up to the Golf Club for the party. We were there probably an hour or so before Dad brought Alex in (it was a surprise party) and she was so overwhelmed at all the people she started crying. It was a great night, without going into too much detail, and everyone was pretty happy after dancing and drinking the night away. At midnight we headed back to Auntie Vicki’s place (Alex’s mum) and partied into the wee hours. Michael and I headed off at about 1:15am because Michael had to catch his plane on Sunday afternoon so we both needed some sleep, and since we were staying with Georgie (Alex’s sister) and her husband Brent, we thought we’d leave at the same time as them to avoid disturbing them later on. I woke up at about 3am and spewed my guts up – not from too much alcohol but from too much food! See, when my family/extended family puts on a ‘do, they PUT ON A ‘DO! There’s always enough food for three times the amount of people that show up. Anyway, I felt a lot better after the chunder, and got back to sleep.
On Sunday morning, everyone went back around to Auntie Vicki’s place again for breakfast – well, more like just coffee and leftovers – and just to catch up and say goodbyes, etc. Michael’s flight was at 2:30ish, but luckily Auntie Vicki lives pretty close to the airport so there was no rush when it came to about an hour before the flight. To cut it a little shorter, we said our goodbyes after a juice at the little airport cafe and I saw him off. We headed back home via Nan’s place and after a very nutritious dinner of vegetables (we were all craving them after the big night!) we all headed to bed very tired.
This morning I slept in till about 10am, by which time Alisha had already gone to the airport and headed home to Melbourne, so I didn’t get to say goodbye but we live in the same city now so it’s not so bad as when she lived in Sydney. Mum woke me up and I made myself a bacon, egg and toast breakfast while she took Arnold for a walk. When she got back we sat out on the deck for a while, just chatting away. I got a little sunburnt but it’s not too bad. Mum, Sam and I headed over to our neighbour Joanna’s place in the afternoon, to see her new baby girl, Charlotte, her almost one-year-old son Tom, as well as the 11-year-old son Joel. I couldn’t believe how much Tom had grown in the four months I’d been away – nearly walking already! And Charlotte is absolutely gorgeous – I hope our kids are half as cute as her!
So now I’m sitting at my parents’ computer, which has a stupid keyboard (I think one too many drinks have been spilt on it or something – you have to press down really hard on each key to get anything out of it) and just typing away while my brother watches South Park. Joy.
I can’t wait to go home, but I don’t want to leave either. I guess that’s what I get for moving interstate, but it’s fine – I’ll get over it!
In ‘net news, you can now register as a user on my site and I can allow you access to private posts (although there are none as yet!) if I think you’re worthy – muhahahahaha!
I can’t believe that in 13 days – nearly two weeks – absolutely nothing has happened. I mean, not ABSOLUTELY nothing, but nothing of major significance. It’s basically been work, work, work, World of Warcraft, work, work, work, sleep, eat, shower, work. I’m going crazy – thank the goddess I get a break from Thursday to Tuesday. I’m heading home to Tassie for my cousin’s 21st and to catch up with family and friends. Mum’s also booked me an optometrist appointment to make sure that my prescription is still okay and so I can get a spare pair of glasses in case of losing them or whatever. I want to get some real nerd glasses – I just love them! And the style suits me too, if I do say so myself.
As for work, nothing really out of the ordinary. I’ve just started processing a different type of form now, so that’s better than doing the same thing every day like I have been for the last couple of months. I’ve also started on phones, which has it’s ups and downs – there’s some real assholes in the world, I’ll tell ya. And real dumbfucks – like seriously dumb. They call up and ask about something which is outlined on the fuckin’ form! One guy, an employer, signed a form four times – the employer section, the apprentice section, and the two TFYT (our)sections! I’m thinking, “You’re not even reading what you’re signing – this is a legal document, and you’re not reading what you’re signing?! Dumbfuck.”
I received my hair extensions that I ordered from IKickShins yesterday – they’re very cool. When I get them in I’ll take some pictures. I’m going to put them in after I dye my hair black in Tassie. They’re hot pink dreads – they’re soooooo awesome.
I also have no money this fortnight – I bought a new graphics card, for two reasons: 1) It needed to be upgraded; and 2) I wanted dual monitor support. So now I have two monitors, allowing me to answer IMs and emails while I’m playing games or whatever.
I have sooo much school work to do, but I just can’t be fucked. Seven units to complete before November, and that’s only one subject. I bet I’ll fail. I’m totally sucking at this whole correspondence thing. I’ll have a talk to mum when I get to Tassie about it because I’m really not happy with it and it’s just another thing on my mind bringing me down.
Anyway, I think that’s enough for one decent blog. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to see another this month
