Changes

Well, a whole lot of changes are going to be happening in the next few months. Michael’s mum gave us the ‘ultimatum’ – get out today or we can get the tenants out of the apartment they bought for us in 60 days. I originally was hoping to move to Tasmania before living in Melbourne again – I’m missing my family a whole lot more and stuff, which isn’t doing my mental/emotional state much good, but we’re going to give living here by ourselves a shot.

Then there’s the problem of money – our rent is $300/week. A WEEK, people. That’s $600 a fortnight, which is more than my fortnightly paycheck. This then means that I have to start working full-time, which I don’t necessarily want to do before moving out because it means we’d never get any washing or cleaning done. BUT I need to do it before we move out because we need money for the bond and furniture and stuff like that. I don’t know how much I’ll be earning, but we might be a little better off if I go full-time.

We’re already making decisions, like phone calls will be made on our mobiles only, unless it’s to a number that mobiles can’t connect to, in which case we’ll use the landline. But hopefully that would cut down the landline bill. Next thing is internet – we need internet because I make money through the ‘net with my designs site and stuff, so that’s a definite. Next, there’s furniture – we’re looking for as much second-hand furniture as possible in our area. We’ve hopefully got a couch lined up already, as well as a fridge (but that’s not certain yet). We also need a couple of barstools for our breakfast bar thing in the apartment, and two bedside tables. If you know of any in Melbourne and the owners are willing to transport them for us, please let me know!

Finally – bills and food. On Michael’s wage and my part-time wage (keeping in mind I’m going to be going full-time from 26th Feb 07), I worked out we’d have $885 a fortnight for bills and food. Fair enough. That just means we need to keep down on DVDs and entertainment stuff until we’re well settled.

It’s such a headache for us but hopefully we’ll get through it. If anyone has any advice in terms of finances please let me know!

Jess told me to…

So Jess told me to blog more… no not really, but she did suggest I do this so here goes nothing:

Not a lot…

It’s been, like, a fortnight since I last blogged and I have barely anything to write about. In fact, I never have anything to write about, do I? I mean, things happen during the week and I never bother remembering them because it’s not important at the time, but when I come to write a blog, I don’t have anything to say. I’ll try and go back through the week anyway…

Starting from last Wednesday, I guess is probably the best place. I got a call from Michael at work telling me that I had to go to Amelia’s place after work, because Justin has got gastroenteritis and has to be quarantined from the baby. Fair enough, we can go there for a night, keep her company and help with the baby. WRONG. We didn’t sleep at all Wednesday night (by choice, not because of the baby), and then we were told that we have to stay another night (keeping in mind that I had to work Friday). It really pissed me off and all I wanted to do was go home. We had to call Michael’s mum to organise our stuff for us and put it outside the apartment door because if we went into the house, we might become a carrier of the gastro and pass it onto the baby (which I think is a load of bullshit – if Justin didn’t come near us we’d be fucking fine), then we had to go all the way back to Amelia’s place and help with the baby till late. I managed to get some sleep but I was so fucking tired that I didn’t bother going to work on Friday – I was just absolutely knackered.

Anyway, we managed to be able to go home on Friday afternoon, which was awesome and all we wanted to do was lay down on our bed because it was soooo comfortable. It was good to be home.

So anyway, we wasted the weekend away to nothing – we didn’t wake up till 12:00pm Saturday because we were so tired. And we just did the usual sitting around on our computers for the whole weekend.

Yesterday was okay – Michael started back at work after a, like, 6-7 week break (lucky bastard) and I went to work as well. Didn’t get a whole lot done but there wasn’t really much to do as people had come in over the weekend and made up some time in processing. So anyway, I get a message at about 4:10pm from Michael – “I think I have gastro”. Fan-fucking-tastic. So he had finished work at 4pm and was pooping piss so I came home at my usual time of 5:30, when he was asleep. Luckily I had today off because I can stay and take care of him, but I have to go to work tomorrow as well.

Speaking of tomorrow, the first World of Warcraft expansion pack is released tomorrow morning at like 12:01am or something. We wanted to go to the launch but because of Michael being sick we can’t, plus we can’t afford our copies yet, even though we have them on pre-order. We’ll hopefully be able to get a one-day loan from his parents so we can get it, and we can pay them back Thursday, which is payday. So we’re both looking forward to The Burning Crusade.

Also, I’ve been getting invites all ready for our two parties – we’ve finally set dates for them. The Melbourne party, for Michael’s half of the family and his friends, will be held on the 10th February at the Irish Times Pub, one of our favourite places for drinks and meals. The Tasmania party, for my family and friends, will be held on the 24th February at my parent’s place. I’m really looking forward to both of them!

Umm I don’t think there’s much more to fill you in on. I should really look for a site that has blog ideas because a lot of the time I can’t think of anything to write. I must take this opportunity to thank those who commented on my last blog with their congratulatory and well-wishing comments – I really appreciate it :) I’ll also take this time to mention a blog I’ve set up tracking the ‘Michael + Terri’ journey, here: http://amour.inspirata.org. It’s still not complete, as you can tell from the pictures and broken links, but it’s a start :)
