Pagan Meetup!

On Wednesday I had the great priviledge of meeting a few members of Tasmania’s Pagan community. I first went to have coffee with one lady (we’ll call her ‘M’), as she had offered me a ride to the meetup that night, and I kind of wanted to meet her first, before getting into the car with a total stranger!!
She was really lovely, so we made the arrangements and she came to pick me up at about 6pm. The car ride was an hour each way, but it was so worth it to meet up with all these wonderful people. I was immediately comfortable in the situation and was able to have conversation with a lot of the people at the table. Every month at these meetups (which are referred to as ‘moots’), they have a guest speaker, and this month’s was a wonderful lady who we’ll call ‘R’. She essentially just talked about her life as a Witch and the training and such that she’s been through. It was sooo interesting and intriguing; I sat there just absorbing everything that she said. It was wonderful.
After a couple more drinks (no alcohol for me!!) we had to pack up and head home, but I’ve managed to make at least a couple more friends, and I can’t wait to see them all again!

Back again

To say that I didn’t have an eventful weekend is probably the biggest understatement of this century.

We headed to Melbourne by boat on Friday night, which was boring but fine – we just slept for the majority of the trip. Arrived in Melbourne at about 7am, and got a taxi into the CBD to Michael’s mum and stepdad’s place. Everyone was awake and greeted us, all good. Waited around until about 9:30am when we went out for breakfast to celebrate our nephew’s birthday, which was nice, and had cupcakes for brunch. We then went and saw Santa Claus at David Jones, because the weather was too miserable to go to the Zoo, but the nephew enjoyed himself anyway.
We then headed back home, where Michael and I split to do our own things for the afternoon: he was going to go for a few drinks and a catch-up with his mates, and I went out shopping with my sister, which was pretty fun, and bought a couple of things (nothing over the top, just some pyjamas and earrings). At about 6pm, we went back home, and went out for dinner at a Chinese restaurant for the nephew’s birthday.

So really, day 1 was fine – nothing went wrong, no arguments, nothing like that. All good.

Day 2 was a different story.

We woke up kind of early, about 6am, because the nephew woke up and therefore proceeded to wake everyone up (hey, he’s only 2 hehe) and we played with him and stuff until 10am, when the shops opened. Michael and I went with his parents to DFO (big shopping centre with all factory outlet stores) and shopped around for a bit; I bought myself a new handbag because my older one was too deep and I kept losing stuff in there!
We split ways at about 10:30, when Michael and I went downtown to do some more shopping around – we went to EB Games, and a surfshop or two because Michael wanted new thongs (that’s flipflops, for you Americans – not g-strings!!). We then went up around JB Hi-Fi and a couple of phone stores, etc. Essentially everything was fine until 12:30, when we were supposed to be meeting up with a friend for lunch. We agreed on 12:30 the day before. We waited. And waited. And waited. It was 1:20 before we said “Fuck it” and just left. I messaged another friend to ask her what she was doing, and she said she’d be close by in about half an hour, so we went and met up with her for a half hour, and she gave me a gorgeous stuffed toy cow, which I’ve named Polenta :P
My friend gave us a lift back to Mike’s parent’s place, where the shit hit the fucking fan. There was a huge argument over something between Michael’s mum and sister, so we ended up leaving half an hour earlier than planned to go to the airport because it was just a crazy, stupid situation and just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. So that we did.
Got to the airport far too early, checked in, and waited around. Boarded almost half an hour after the original boarding time (so we really boarded at the time our flight was meant to take off), and then got home about 20 minutes too late. Got home, then shit hit the fan there too because apparently Mike didn’t say hi to my mum and she was feeling unappreciated, blah blah blah. Too much to go into right now and it just pisses me off to think about.
Anyway, it was … eventful, and I’m mostly disappointed about my friend not showing up when she said she would. Them’s the breaks, I guess.
I’m looking forward to this afternoon – Mike’s buying me WoW: Wrath of the Lich King, and so I look forward to playing that tonight.

Take care!

Yeah, another layout

As much as I loved the one from Reese, it wasn’t me – I need pink in my themes haha!
I really like this one from Amy & Pink – I have altered it a little, to suit me a little better and to work with what I thought would work, but I haven’t changed it that much.  Hopefully reviewers like it :)

So I’m sitting here, waiting for my mouse to charge, since I’ve been on my computer pretty much all day. I unfortunately have to go to the doctor tomorrow, but it is to find out my blood test results, so I’m hoping something comes out of it, at least.  Like I said before, I kind of hope they find something wrong (that’s treatable/curable, of course) just so I actually get some answers.  But anyway, I shall let you all know how it goes.

New photo up in the corner there – I can’t believe it’s been 3 months to the day that I’ve had my hair cut.  I really need to go get it redone, because I’m getting back into the habit of tying it back again (which is why I wanted to cut it in the first place, so I can wear it out more).  Plus it looked way cuter in August, when it was freshly cut lol!

I’m trying to get more into my instant messengers again, since I’ve kind of dropped off the face of the planet in that aspect.  I don’t know – does anyone use instant messengers as much as they used to?  I guess they do; my brother is on there all the time, but I’ve noticed a whole lot of people I used to talk to all the time either are on but don’t talk to me, or they’re not on at all.  I guess we’re all growing up and moving on with our lives.

Umm what else… I’ve applied for 3 jobs in the last two days, one of them being a legal secretary job, of which the ideal applicant description fits me to a tee, so I hope I can at least get an interview out of them.  It totally sucks when you apply to so many places and they don’t even give you the opportunity of an interview.  I think if you’re applying for a job, your application letter and resume are tidy, and you have at least some of the qualities that an employer is looking for, then you should be given an interview.  Everyone deserves a chance, sheesh.  Even if you’ve already made up your mind about someone, what if it falls through with them?  No backup.

Now I’m rambling…

Off to Melbourne this weekend for Jonah’s 2nd birthday – holy crap, I can’t believe he’s two already!  We’re having lunch at the Zoo, then I’ll be meeting up with my sister for some Christmas shopping while Michael goes out with his mates for the afternoon.  We will then recongregate at the house for dinner.  On Sunday, we’re going out for lunch with more friends, before heading home that night.  Holy hell, it’s gonna be one whirlwind weekend (I’m going to be exhausted!).  But should be fun, nonetheless.  A lot of tension between the family, particularly me and the in-laws, has eased off since the move.  I like it :P

Ok so I’ll finish up here before I continue babbling – see you after the weekend!

New Layout

Just a note to say I’ve now updated the layout, since a lot of people were saying the last one was a little too plain, boring, etc. So I ‘borrowed’ one of Reese’s free layouts and am using that for the time being.
Thanks for everyone’s honest opinions over at rev.iew.me. I appreciate them :)
