Litha, Xmas and New Year
Ok, so I haven’t blogged in forever, but I guess I can be excused this time since it’s that crazy time of year we call the Holidays.
Since my last blog, I’ve actually done a surprising amount of things. The next thing for me to do is to remember them all, since my memory has been failing me consistantly since about the age of, let’s say, two.
Anyway, on the 14th December I took a trip out to the middle of Tasmania for a gathering with my friends from the Pagan Alliance (which I’ve become a member of) for their almost-annual Silver Broomstick Awards. It was a lot of fun – a barbeque with great people, and lots of laughs. I love every one of them so much! This was also our gathering for Litha, since during the actual Summer Solstice, people would be really busy with family, etc.
On the Summer Solstice, I didn’t really do much (since we’d already celebrated), but I did spend the day with Michael out in the sun, which was great – got a little sunburnt but not badly. And we did some shopping too, considering how close Christmas was and all!!!
Next was Christmas – my mum had to work Christmas Day, so we took a trip up to her office with a picnic-type lunch and sat with her to have Christmas lunch in the office! It was really nice to spend the time with her, since she was a little upset that she didn’t have Christmas Day off to spend with us, but we managed
We also dropped in to see my Nan and my Great Grandmother on the way home, to wish them a Merry Christmas. We then went for dinner at my cousin’s place, which was fun, having a barbeque and lots of alcohol, which is always good
Oh, and presents – I got:
- Sewing machine
- Necklace
- Earrings
- Thongs (flip-flops – we call ‘em thongs in Australia
) - An ‘Emily the Strange’ bag
- A pack of three lipglosses
- Chocolates
Boxing Day was spent with my mum’s side of the family, since mum had that day off, and we had the whole turkey, ham, chicken, etc. which was really nice.
Then yesterday we went to Hobart for the day (without my brother, which was good since it would have been so squishy in the car!). We went to see the boats from the Sydney-to-Hobart Yacht Race come in, as well as go to Taste of Tasmania where we had lunch (I had butter chicken with rice and naan – awesome food!). We then went shopping (since no trip to Hobart is complete without shopping), and I found a little New Age shop as well, which was really cute, and my mum bought me some clothes to wear to work (more on that in a minute!) and then my feet were killing me so we went back to the car, where Dad was waiting after looking at some other vehicles, since he just sold his own vehicle. So needless to say, we actually drove home with two cars!!! He found a Ford Falcon utility for under $8000, so he was pretty happy with that, and it runs well.
As for work, I got a job
At the moment, I’m only 99.9% employed since I haven’t signed any paperwork yet, but I will be employed by a temp agency to work for a webdesign company who operate just down the road from where I live (which is awesome). It will only be casual sort of hours to start with, but it could lead into a full-time position. So I’m pretty excited and nervous about that!
Anyway, I think that’s enough for now – I’m completely exhausted and I have to start getting things ready for invitations to my 21st birthday party in February!!! Hope everyone has a fabulous New Year, and stay safe!

I do not think I could ever get used to Christmas being in Summer. LOL Glad everything has been working out, though.
