As part of my encouragement to get blogging again, I’m following a list of things to blog and/or post about (seeing as some are pictures). I’m not particularly interested in following the list in order, and I’ve already missed a couple of days so it’s not going to be perfect, but it’s a good guide to get some blog writing going.
Today’s item is to take a photo of myself and post a description of how my day was.
My day started at about 5:00am when the dog woke up, but she was fine once I fed her and let her out for a pee. I’m really tired today as we were out late at a friend’s house for dinner, so I slept in till about 7:30 before getting up, having some breakfast and getting ready to go out.
I went and had a massage at 9:00am, to get rid of some tension and pain in my neck & shoulders, which was really relaxing – something I really needed. I went to the supermarket after that to grab a few things, then to get some breakfast. Took that home, ate with Michael and I’ve pretty much been sitting at my computer the rest of the day.
Michael is going out tonight with Dominic (husband of one of my work colleagues) so I’m heading up to their house, taking some dinner with me as she’s home with a nearly 4-week old baby, and we’re going to sit and watch Meet the Little Fockers.
I guess after that I’ll be coming home and going to bed!
Not a really eventful day, actually
Here’s to a better 2011 than 2010 – seems to have been a crappy year all round.
1.What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
Bought a house, been to a funeral (or two).
2.Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I never really make resolutions, because I know I’ll never keep them. I will always subconsciously resolve to get healthy and lose weight.
3.Did anyone close to you give birth?
No-one close to me, no. A few are pregnant though!
4.Did anyone close to you die?
My cousin’s husband.
5.What countries did you visit?
None, unfortunately.
6.What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
The time and money to do more renovations on our house.
7.What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
April 27th, when my cousin’s husband died. May 7th, the day we settled our house purchase.
8.What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Again, buying a house. And getting my driver’s licence.
9.What was your biggest failure?
Hmm can’t really think of any – I take it all in stride.
10.Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing serious, no.
11.What was the best thing you bought?
My house! My car!
12.Whose behavior merited celebration?
My husband’s – for putting up with my serious moodswings and days where I got so frustrated with the smallest things, he stuck by me.
13.Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My cousin’s husband’s – as much as I love him and miss him, he took his own life and left behind three young kids, so I was kind of angry at him for that.
14.Where did most of your money go?
House, car, groceries, bills, gadgets
15.What events did you get really, really, really excited about?
Christmas, actually. I normally don’t really get into the spirit of Christmas, but this year I was really feeling festive. Also, seeing Tom Jones, Blondie and The Pretenders live!
16.What song will always remind you of 2010?
There’s so many songs that I actually liked this year, unlike the past few years, so I would think a few will. ‘Slow Motion’ by Little Red has been overplayed, so possibly that
17.Compared to this time last year, are you:
i.happier or sadder? Happier.
ii.thinner or fatter? Thinner, but not by much.
iii.richer or poorer? Poorer, thanks to the house, but it doesn’t bother me as much as paying rent.
18.What do you wish you’d done more of?
Sleep, go out, renovate.
19.What do you wish you’d done less of?
Crying, stressing, sitting on my ass.
20.How will you be spending Christmas?
It was spent with my family and hubby’s family at my parent’s house.
21.Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
Michael, probably. My mum would be next in line.
22.Did you fall in love in 2010?
Nope, was already in love.
23. How many one-night stands?
Erm, none – I’m married.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Dexter
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I don’t have time to hate people.
26. What was the best book you read?
I didn’t read a lot of books, so can’t really say. I think I read the Twilight series in 2010, so I’ll say that.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery or rediscovery?
Little Red are pretty good.
28. What did you want and get?
New TV cabinet, house, car, a doggy!
29. What did you want and not get?
More money, an iPhone 4.
30. What were your favorite films of this year?
Due Date, can’t think of the other films I’ve seen.
31.What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Went driving with my parents and hubby, went out for lunch, that was about it. Nothing extravagant, but special all the same.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Losing more weight, being more motivated.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Workwear, since that’s where I spent most of my time. Neat-casual.
34. What kept you sane?
My husband, coming home at the end of the day, sleeping.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most/least?
Love Johnny Depp, always will. Justin Bieber should die.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The Aussie Internet filter debate that has continued on.
37. Whom did you miss?
My cousin’s husband, Layla (my dear kitty), my sister and friends in Melbourne.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Um I didn’t really meet our friends Kerrie-anne & Dominic this year, but we got to know them really well and have become great friends, so does that count?
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
Always check your burger before pulling away from the store – twice in the last week I’ve ordered burgers with bacon & cheese, and neither has had bacon or cheese on them when I’ve got home.
40. Do you have any lost feelings of others.
I don’t have time to waste on people who don’t have time for me.
41. Quote a song that sums up your year:
Raise Your Glass, by Pink.
What a year!
