Well, not really. Because the things that people wanted to hear about are things I’ve already posted about
So for reference, here are the posts about the bigger events that happened in 2009.
The New Place – moving back into our own space was excellent, after living for something like 9-10 months at my parents’ place. We’d lived together on our own before, so it wasn’t a particularly outstanding achievement or event in itself, but it was a regaining of our freedom and independence.
New Beginnings – moving to Terri.nu was a big change – I still use the name ‘Inspirata’ for my website design stuff, but I felt it was time to move to something bigger and better. Terri.nu was a domain name I’d wanted for a while – it’s me, of course, and my name isn’t changing any time soon! Again, not much to this event, but it was something I did that stood out this year.
The Wedding Post – and of course, the biggest thing that happened in 2009 was our wedding. What can I say but it’s the start of the next phase of our relationship, true commitment to each other. The happiest day of my life.
And that’s about it. I did get a job in 2009, as well, which I am grateful for. I didn’t listen to the radio at all, unless I was in the car with my parents. I watched far too much TV and spent too much time playing The Sims 2 & 3. I lost 8kg in 12 months without even trying.
We lost Layla in February, whom we miss dearly (RIP Mama-Puss), which was a real breaking point for me, since I loved her so much.
Thankfully, though, Layla was our only loss this year – I wish it could have gone without any losses, but I suppose when a person’s or animal’s time has come, there’s not much you can really do about it.
In general, 2009 wasn’t bad. But, bring on 2010!
So it’s been about two and a half weeks since we got back from our break in Melbourne over Easter, which is madness because it seems to have gone sooo quickly. It was great to catch up with friends there, especially Manda since I hadn’t seen her since we moved back to Tassie (that’s about 9 months, people!). It was like we’d never been apart at all, it was excellent.
Anyway, I’ve been busy. I’ve finally got somewhat of a job – I’m doing a website for a local jewellers. Essentially I’ll be running their online side of things – they’ll have an online store and such, and I’m in charge of all that, so it’ll be an ongoing task. I’ll be paid monthly, and the owner of the business said there’s also the possibility of my earning a commission off sales from the website, which is AWESOME. It looks like things are finally starting to look up
Also, we’re looking at getting our own place – we looked at an apartment for rent yesterday, but it was far too small and there weren’t enough powerpoints for us geeky types. Hell, there wasn’t even space for a washing machine, and nowhere to put bathroom products, so we said no. We’re going to look at another place, which is a lot more money (an extra $55 a week) than the one we looked at, but it will hopefully be a lot better. We’ve worked it out and we could survive on Michael’s income alone, but with mine it should be a breeze.
We also got Guitar Hero World Tour! It’s so much fun – I love the drums, finally something I’m good at! We bought it with money that Michael made selling football cards on eBay. Which brings me to my next point – I’m thinking of starting up my jewellery making again – just little beaded things – and selling them on eBay, to bring in a little extra cash. Goodness knows we need as much as we can get right now. So I’m just looking into that now.
School has been highly unmotivating, and I’ve barely touched my work lately. If anyone knows anything about development methodologies, please get in touch with me because I can’t get my freakin’ head around it! (It’s website development, by the way).
Anyway, that’s enough for a quick update. I’ve been flat out otherwise – with this jeweller’s website, mostly, and since my mum’s been working afternoon shifts it’s meant I’ve had to cook for the family, which has been less than inspiring!
So I bet you can’t guess what I got up to today
I went for a walk early (well, early for me) this morning with my mum and a family friend. We trekked for about an hour, and it was a good walk because it had a good variance in the terrain, and was a lot easier on the way back, which I like! We’re going again on Wednesday, and then we’ll make further dates from then.
Also, I got my first 21st birthday present today – Wii Fit! I wanted it from my parents, but asked if I could have it before my birthday, so as to get fit for the actual day. Mum agreed and we bought it today – it’s so much fun! Trying the yoga positions and stuff really made me realise how unfit I am, but it’s pushing me to do more, which is exactly what I need.
I’m still on the job hunt. “What?”, I hear you ask. Yeah, I did have a position lined up with a design company. The thing was, I’d had 2 trial days with them (one ‘official’, one not) and didn’t feel completely comfortable on either day. Normally (and this is how it was with my last job) if I’m going to fit in, I am comfortable on the first day, or at least after the first couple of hours. My official trial day was a 7 hour day, and I couldn’t wait to get out of there due to the tension in the air. There were a couple of other things that I don’t want to mention on here due to their being somewhat incriminating, but I might mention them at a later date.
So yeah, still looking for a job, and still waiting on my ABN to come through in the mail so as I can start doing webdesign work a little more legitimately, as well as have the ability to actively seek out clientele. I’m really looking forward to that.
I think that’s about it – I was trying to work out a new layout for Inspirata but I’m totally attached to this one right now. If anyone wants to make me one – *puppy eyes* – I’d love them forever!
Pretty much an average Saturday today – slept in (which isn’t unusual for me anymore anyway), sat on my computer, had KFC for lunch and sat in the sun in the afternoon.
That’s about it
However, I have been working on the Tasmanian Pagan Alliance website, which I think is looking fabulous at the moment, and also added a couple more fanlistings that I’d been approved for back in mid-December but didn’t get around to actually putting up until now. (By the way, they are for Three Little Birds (by Bob Marley) and Dreadlocks (which I don’t have but still love all the same!) – go join!)
Speaking of websites, I finally managed to move Inspirata Designs as a subdomain to its own domain (which I probably should have done years ago but only just got around to it the other day) – it’s now at Inspirata-Designs.com, which I think will be easier to find for my clients. I have been thinking about turning it into a part-time business, rather than a hobby that I occasionally get paid for – and when I went to speak to a lady about starting my own business, she said since I’m working from home and it’s just me and webdesign, all I would need would be an ABN. Now up until today, I thought you had to pay for an ABN, and for that I would need something like a small business loan, but it appears that all you do is fill out an application online and it’s done – I might have a chat to my mum about it, since if I can start claiming computer parts and such on the business, it might be worth it!
Anyway, that’s about it for now – got some more work to do on some sites and maybe play some WoW, since I’ve kind of abandoned that lately.
