Two Aussie Nerdy Kids, PB M&Ms and American Soda

Oh, BTW, I’m 21.

In all the mess with Layla, I completely forgot to post about my birthday, which was a week ago now. I’m a total dork.

So, I’m now 21 years old. Un-freakin’-believable. It’s kind of weird, because when I was 20 I thought that sounded kind of old, but 21 sounds hip and young. Then next year I’ll be 22, and I’ll feel old again. Mneh.

I had a party. Yup yup. It was awesome. We had three ‘shifts’ of guests planned out:

Shift #1 – My grandparents, and family on my mum’s side, for lunch.
Shift #2 – Pub crawl with my friends and younger cousins on my dad’s bus.
Shift #3 – Everyone else.

Shift #1 went fine – we had a great lunch of basically salads and cold meats (it’s Summer here, remember), and I got some nice gifts (I’ll list gifts at the end, it’s easier). Unfortunately it was during First Shift that I got the call from the vet about Layla, and the best option being to put her to sleep, but I managed to kind of put that to the back of my mind so I could focus on having fun and then deal with that part of life the next day.
Anyway, nothing really eventful happened during First Shift – it was nice, but no party-party yet :P

People started arriving for Second Shift at about 2pm, and I told my Dad that we’d probably head on our pub crawl at about 3:15pm, just to give people a chance to get to our place. Turned out that the bus battery was flat, and Dad had to call the RACT. Anyway, we ended up getting on the bus for a One-Pub-Pub-Crawl at about 3:45-4ish, which was still fun, to jump on the bus and go for a cruise around, stop in for a drink or two, then head back home.

Shift #3 people were already there, considering the pub crawl started late, and I managed to down a few more drinks whilst mingling with people, eating some food (there was so much food!) and that kind of thing. It wasn’t a huge dancefest or anything – some good beats in the background, and just a get-together, really. I didn’t want anything OTT, so it was just nice to be with family and friends. Plus it was great to see Zandra and Paul, who arrived just in time from Melbourne :)

We wound up at about 2am – I finished drinking earlier than that because I was starting to feel sick (and I know my limits!) and didn’t want to puke on my birthday, so I had water and a coffee.

Ok, so y’all wanna know what I got, right? Well here goes:
- $370 cash total (woah! a lot of it is already gone :P )
- $100 JeansWest voucher (I’ll use that to buy clothes when I’ve lost more weight)
- Two $50 Kmart vouchers (already gone, see last post)
- Pink LG KS360 from Michael
- Flowers delivered, from Michael for Valentine’s Day
- Emily the Strange t-shirt
- Emily the Strange bag
- Jason Mraz’s Album
- Two tickets to see Kate Miller-Heidke at a local club.
- Four necklaces, from various people
- A jewellery stand from my Nan
- 21st guest book from my Auntie Vicki
- Wii Fit from my mum and dad (which I’m pretty sure I’ve already mentioned)
- A Spell Kit from my sister and her boyfriend
- A Spell ‘spray’ (essential oil blend) from my sister and her boyfriend
- A bottle of Midori, again from my sister and her boyfriend
- Maxwell Williams Cherry Blossom platter, salad bowl and salad servers from our close family friends Brian and Jan

I think that’s it? I suck if I can’t remember the rest, and I hate leaving things out.

I’ll leave you with some photos – the rest are in a set on Flickr.

Starting to feel better

Slowly but surely, I’m starting to feel better. It’s been hard, and there’s still a way to go yet, but after talking with many people about it, and getting my feelings out, it’s getting easier to talk about her, to look at pictures of her, to do all that stuff.
Michael has been a huge support – he’s going through the same thing that I am, but is dealing with it, at least on the outside, a whole lot better than I have been, and he’s been there for me each step of the way.

Anyway, onto brighter topics. I went shopping yesterday, since I had two $50 gift cards for Kmart (well, one for $50, one for $43.95 since I spent some of it) and bought:

  • Hot pink eyeliner
  • White eyeliner
  • Maybelline’s Define-A-Lash in Waterproof
  • Blusher/Bronzer
  • Four eyeshadows
  • Eyeshadow palette

I also bought ‘Twilight’ – no, I haven’t read it already, so I’ve been desperately avoiding spoilers online. I’ve done pretty well so far, since I only know that it’s about a chick who meets this guy who’s a vampire. That’s all I know. I started reading it last night, and am up to Chapter 3 (they’re long chapters, aren’t they?!). I’m enjoying it so far, but it’s not ‘must-read’ to me just yet, or something I’d be recommending to people yet. Obviously, because I’m only up to Chapter 3.

Then today, I went out and bought a perfume (just a cheapy that states it’s comparable to Britney Spears’ Curious perfume), cat food, hair mousse, a lip gloss and some choccies and a card for Michael, since I didn’t give him anything for Valentine’s Day. I had Subway for lunch, which was good – nice to have something that tastes healthy.

As for my site, Inspirata hasn’t seen a lot of love really, so I did a little revamping around the place, adding some more subpages, separating stuff out a little more. Happy so far.

Aanndd I need to work on my other sites more. GeekWitch.org has not seen ANY love for a while, which is a shame because I love that site, and TasPagans, don’t even get me started there. I think I jumped into that project with too much hope that it would really take off. If we haven’t got a lot of traffic by the end of March, I reckon I’ll just redirect the URL to the Tas Pagan Alliance site. Make things easier.

Anyway, that’s enough for now.

Layla, Sleep, Food, Flickr.

Ok Layla is officially freaking me out. I spent at least an hour just sitting with her, trying to get her to eat tuna, then drink milk, then eat a casserole thing from the supermarket, and she wasn’t interested in any of them. I’m going to have to take her to the vet, but I can’t yet since we’re completely broke until Friday. *sigh* She’s as thin as a rake, she’s not eating and she has a snotty nose and gunky eyes. And she’s been like this since we took her to the vet, and the vet says she’s healthy. I’m wondering if she hasn’t picked something up when she overnighted there. Anyway, we’ll get her to the vet as soon as possible.

I’m such a lame-o in regards to my last entry – I can’t believe I completely forgot to publish it; I was pretty tired last night (went to bed a couple of hours before my normal bedtime). I don’t know what it is, but I’ve just been so tired. I have to get as much sleep as possible this week, too, because it’s my 21st BIRTHDAY ON SATURDAY and I don’t want to be tired for that :P

I cooked shepherd’s pie (well, technically cottage pie since it was beef, not lamb) for dinner and it was yummo – I can’t post pics of it yet because my Flickr account is currently inaccessible (I accidently deleted my account before switching my Flickr over to my new Yahoo account), so I’m waiting on Yahoo to get back to me to help me. I should email them again and ask them to get a wriggle on.

So that’s about it for today – don’t want to bore you with useless dribble and I don’t have much more to say anyways, so adios :)
